Mel Williams was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee in the early ’50s. His father worked maintenance at a local church and often sang while he cleaned, with young Mel right beside him. Inspired by those moments, Mel would say, “I want to be like him.”

When the family later moved to South Florida, his father took a job at a trailer park where residents gathered for bingo nights. One evening, while Mel was helping clean up, his dad gently nudged him in front of the crowd to sing. A tip jar quickly filled, and from that night on, Mel never stopped performing.

From those early tips in a trailer park to auditoriums across the country, Mel’s journey has been fueled by deep spiritual devotion and a love for jazz, easy‑listening ballads, and timeless classics.
